ELA
Jolly Phonics: This program uses a multi-sensory approach to teach phonics. Each letter is presented with a sound and motion.
SUPERKIDS: This is our phonetic based reading program that students will continue to use throughout first grade as well. When a new letter is presented, we will be spending a lot of time learning how to blend that new sound in simple CVC (three letter words) using our sound slide. Memory words will be coming home to practice. These words are "green", meaning they are said FAST. We do not use our sounds to blend these words.
WRITING
Students are encouraged to write using their sounds in Kindergarten. We refer to this as invented spelling or brave spelling. This method allows the students to strengthen their phonemic awareness and their letter/sound correlation. Please encourage the same kind of writing at home. For example, you might see your student spell the word apple as apl because those are the sounds they hear.
MATH
GO MATH: This is aligned to the Common Core State Standards and helps build the necessary foundational skills for Kindergarten students.
SCIENCE
STEMscopes: Hands on opportunities the student's really enjoy!
SOCIAL STUDIES
MY World/Scholastic Let's Find Out: Interactive programs that bring engaging activities and real world examples to life for the students.
